Graham Norton-Standen

Chairman and Independent Director

Graham brings a tremendous amount of corporate experience having served as Chairman of the Board, CEO, Board Member, Senior Advisor, Group Advisor, Corporate Advisor and many other positions with a number of the world’s top companies and fund managers including Gartner, EDS, Digital Equipment Corporation, British Telecom, Hewlett Packard, Unisys, Tata Group, Cable & Wireless, Deutsche Bank, Reuters, P&O and other organisations.

During his tenure in various organisations Graham also acted as an advisor to a number of professional and government bodies including the European Commission, the World Energy Council, EPRI, the Centre for European Policy Studies and the Governments of Sweden and Australia in the run up to privatisation of certain industries. He also acted as a board member to the United States Trade and Investment Council based in Brussels.

Richard Wyles

Director and Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder

Before co-founding Totara, Richard played a leading role in the dramatic rise of Moodle as the e-learning technology of choice in his home country New Zealand and internationally. He has led large government funded Moodle projects including the very first enterprise scale deployment of Moodle in 2004. In 2006 he co-founded the Mahara project, the popular open source eportfolio system.  That year Richard also co-founded Flexible Learning Network, now part of the City & Guilds Kineo group of companies.

Richard manages the global operation of Totara Learning from the company's head office in Wellington, New Zealand. 

Lars Hyland

Director and Chief Commercial Officer 

Lars has been an early pioneer of learning technology since 1992 and has since successfully supported the growth of e-learning solutions industry holding senior management positions with Epic, Brightwave, LEO and CogBooks in the United Kingdom. He also gained valuable start up experience designing and launching a SaaS-based learning transfer platform, Retenda. 

Lars manages the global Commercial team from Totara Learning's EMEA regional office in Brighton, United Kingdom. 

Philip Ellaway

Director and Group Strategy Director at City & Guilds Kineo

Philip works with the Management Board to help build a broader vocational education organisation beyond its strong awarding base. Philip has over 20 years' experience in developing market-leading teaching and learning resources both in print and online. 

Previous board roles at educational publishers Heinemann/Harcourt included strategy, eLearning, and eAssessment, and he has also consulted in branding, telecoms, broadcast and IT. He has taught in adult education, served in school governor and PTA roles, and was educated at Imperial College (Physics) and LBS (MBA).

Philip is based in London, United Kingdom. 

Mike O’Connor

Director and Founding Director of Catalyst

Catalyst is recognised as a leading exponent of open source technologies for software development, integration and support services. Mike possesses a broad and deep understanding of the issues that can impact on the successful delivery of software solutions, both packaged and bespoke software. Mike looks after Catalyst's e-learning business unit which delivers Totara, Moodle, Mahara and Koha educational and training systems and services.
