It’s the season of giving, and we’re very excited to reveal that we’ve just released Totara Learn 12!

This release has a strong focus on improving the user experience, with improved navigation options, a new learning catalogue and content marketplace and more ability to customise the look and feel of your Totara Learn solution. New learning catalogue

We’ve made it easier than ever before to find the right learning at the right time with our new tile-based catalogue. It provides an intuitive, image-based interface for browsing, filtering, sorting and searching learning content so that your learners don’t waste time trawling through never-ending lists to find what they need.

Designing with configuration

Totara Learn 12 brings with it a range of improvements to block functionality, giving you the power to add full-width header and footer regions for more attractive and engaging pages. Blocks can also now be displayed without borders or headers, meaning you can take full advantage of the new course, program and certification images and advanced gallery display options within the Featured Links block.

Navigation improvements

We’ve helped you optimise the space within your LMS by condensing the header, footer and front-page course lists and refining the content of the navigation block to reduce distractions and keep people focused on what’s important. The site administration menu has also undergone a major redesign, and it can now be customised for the specific tasks of each administrator.

Explore the Content Marketplace

Totara Learn 12 gives you access to a range of free and paid-for learning content from our trusted content partners via the Content Marketplace. You can import SCORM-based content into your LMS to extend your existing catalogue or supplement existing courses. Totara Partners and other content providers can implement their own Content Marketplace plugins or use the GO1 marketplace included in Totara Learn 12.

Extended seminar management

With Totara Learn 12, you have the ability to manage multiple bookings on learning events based on previous attendance status. Seminar notifications are also now available in multiple languages for improved localisation - great if you have a global userbase.

New reporting options

We have improved performance in our report builder, and set up reporting for user consent, record of prior learning and handy new audience-based content restrictions.

HR Import updates

Our powerful HR Import tool has been further extended to include the creation and update of competency frameworks. As well as this, each HR Import element now has its own specific import options, meaning that you can pull information from different sources at different times.

New learning access controls

In Totara Learn 12, we have extended the automated management of user access and visibility to learning, navigation and dashboards with new audience rules based on certifications and authentication methods. We’ve also given you more control over access to learning items, empowering you to restrict access based on the time since a learner has completed (or not completed) another activity or resource for more active management of a learner’s journey through their learning material.
